TOP 10 Things To Do This Summer

That fluttering feeling in our stomach and that eager, impatient soul, and checking our watch again and again for that time to tick and when it finally comes, the utmost feeling of joy and freedom is just something out of the world. This is what I feel on the last day of my finals, the day when, after just a few hours, I would get my freedom back and with it an endless ocean of time to my leisure. For a lot of us, we are eagerly waiting for the summer holidays for the trips that we are going to go to or the classes that we are going to join, but nevertheless all of us have this common eagerness or wait for the endless free time that we get, to do whatever we want with it. But, often, after a few days that excitement starts to fade away as boredom starts setting in. We, often, run out of things to do and can’t wait to find something fun or useful to do. So, since my summer holidays just started a few weeks back, I thought why not write a blog on the things we could all do this summer to make it worthwhile. Some of the things may not appeal to you, but that’s okay, read the next one. I have tried to jot down all those things which someone or the other might want to do.

1. BINGE-WATCH!= Believe it or not, with the amount of time that we have to ourselves during this time, gives us the opportunity to binge watch movies, online series and what not for as long as we want. The best part of binge watching is that you lose track of time and find a useful way to get rid of boredom with interesting, enthralling stories. Recently, I finished Season 2 of Stranger Things as I could not see it during the last year. What are you currently binge-watching?

2. READ, READ AND READ! = Again, with so much time in the palms of our hands, the readers and book-lovers out there in the world get the most wonderful opportunity to read all the books they have been wanting to since a very long time. I, personally, prefer reading books in their original form and not on tablets or Kindle as I am the kind of person who loves and thrives for the experience of all senses that a book provides like the sense of touch by turning the pages, the sense of smell of the pages and an old book, the sense of sight giving you a break from screens and what not. It helps you go into a world of imagination. Recently, I finished reading the fifth book of the Harry Potter series.(I know I am little late, but well) What about you?

3. EXPLORE NEW PLACES= This does not specifically mean travelling to lands outside your city, but it could also be places even in your own city which you have never been to before or have wanted to go to for a very long time. Go with someone you feel comfortable with. It could be your close family or friends or anyone for that matter.

4. BE PART OF THE LATEST TREND= If you’re the kind of person who loves to be part of the latest trends and is never out of fashion, then you know what I mean here. Even if you’re not that kind of person, try following any trend of your choice. It will help you get a new perspective maybe and explore new things. There are so many trends nowadays that you have a huge bag to choose from like Instagram shopping, Instagram stories, live streaming, hashtags, fashion trends and what not. But do keep in mind that they should healthy trends that don’t harm you in any way.

5. TRY OUT SOMETHING NEW= Are you the kind of person who takes so much time thinking over whether or not you want to do something that you miss the opportunity and then regret taking so much time to think about it in the first place? Well, then this is your chance to do that thing or anything and leave behind that feeling of regret. So, go and do that thing that you’ve wanted to since a long time.

6. TAKE SOME RISKS= If you’re the adventurous type, then you could go out to some adventure spots and indulge in various different kinds of sport activities and what not. And if you’re not, then maybe this is the time for you to get over some fears. It doesn’t specifically have to be something related to sports, but it could even be something like getting over your fear of dogs or trying out a dish that you had a bad experience with in your childhood.

7. SHOP= I know a lot of people don’t like shopping, but why not go out and just have a look. At least, you’ll spend some time outside the house. And if you’re a shopaholic, then go out to the malls and try out clothes and buy the ones you like. And why just clothes? You could go grocery shopping or cute stationary shopping or whatever you like.

8. REDECORATE YOUR ROOM= This is your chance to clean all the clutter in your room and customize it the way you want it to be. If you’re a typical girl like me, then you could buy some fairy lights and click some photographs and then decorate a bare wall in your room. You could personalize your room and give it a feel or vibe that you like. If you’re not the kind of person who can think of ideas to decorate, then call up any of your friends who can help you to do that. This will make it an even more fun experience.

9. LET YOUR CREATIVITY FLOW= Do something you enjoy doing. Something that gives you satisfaction and joy. For me, this is writing, reading, watching movies and series, spending time with family and friends and sometimes even cooking and eating. When I was young, I was a part of a Speech and Drama Academy which I used to absolutely love going to. So, probably do something creative this summer.

10. GET BORED! = Yes, I am serious. Get bored. Sometimes it is better to just get bored then do something. Just take some rest. Sit and do nothing but think. Let your mind do the work and let your body rest. This is not specifically meditation, but you could try that out too if that’s your kinda thing. Basically, just give some time for yourself alone.

So, those were the Top 10 things you could do this summer to make it worthwhile. I have not arranged them in any particular order but just in the flow that I thought of them.
